Full Description
The Grotto Canyon Icewalk is an extraordinary winter hike that takes you along a frozen creek bed, winding through a narrow canyon with stunning rock formations and spectacular icefalls. This adventure offers a rare chance to walk directly on ice, providing unparalleled views of the canyon's natural beauty.
On this unforgettable hike, you'll witness the breathtaking Grotto Canyon icefalls, formed as the creek's flowing waters freeze into striking ice sculptures. Some of these icefalls tower up to 30 meters (100 feet), creating an awe-inspiring winter landscape. If you're lucky, you might even spot ice climbers scaling these icy formations.
Additionally, you'll discover ancient native pictographs, which often go unnoticed by casual visitors. With a knowledgeable guide, you'll explore the stunted pine forest and spot these hidden symbols, believed to have been created by Hopi visitors from Arizona. Along the way, you'll learn about the rich history of the First Nations in the Bow Valley.
Join us for an intimate, guided experience and connect with the natural and cultural wonders of Grotto Canyon
