Full description Discover Antequera, known as "the heart of Andalusia" due to its central location between Malaga, Granada, Cordoba and Seville. Explore the nearby Paraje Natural de El Torcal, famous for its unstable limestone rock formations and considered one of the most important karst landscapes in Europe. Also, visit the Roman baths, the fortress and many other places of interest.

You will be picked up from your accommodation on the Costa del Sol.

Start with a walk through "El Torcal". This natural site is located in the Sierra del Torcal and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015 due to its unique landforms and impressive karst landscapes. After the hike, we will head to Antequera. You will have free time for lunch.

Continue the tour visiting the Alcazaba of Antequera. This fortress was built in the 14th century to face the Christian advance from the north, over Roman ruins. It is rectangular in shape, with two towers, and its keep is considered one of the largest from the Muslim period in al-Andalus. Next, visit the 16th-century Renaissance Collegiate Church while listening to stories about the town's medieval legends from your guide.

Then discover the Roman baths while the guide explains its different parts.

Walk through the main square surrounded by monumental buildings, such as the palace of Najera and some convents.

Finally, continue exploring the area by visiting two dolmens, megalithic burial mounds called tumuli, a form of long corridor dolmen dating back to 3,000 BC. After completing the chamber (which probably served as a tomb for the ruling families) and the path leading to the centre, the stone structure was covered by the ground and built into the hill that can be seen today. When the tomb was opened and examined in the 19th century, archaeologists found the skeletons of several hundred people inside.
