Full description Explore Antequera, "the heart of Andalusia" due to its central location between Malaga, Granada, Cordoba and Seville, and its proximity to the nature reserve of El Torcal, famous for its unstable limestone rock formations, one of the most important karst landscapes in Europe, the Roman baths, the fortress and much more.

Pickup from your accommodation on the Costa del Sol.

Start with a walk in "El Torcal". "El Torcal" of Antequera is a nature reserve in the Sierra del Torcal and is also a UNESCO protected natural site since 2015, known for its unusual landforms and impressive karst landscapes. After the hike, we will drive to Antequera. You will be given free time for lunch.

Continue the tour visiting the Alcazaba of Antequera. A fortress built in the 14th century to counter the Christian advance from the north, over Roman ruins. It is rectangular in shape, with two towers, and its keep is considered one of the largest in Moorish al-Andalus. Then visit the 16th century Renaissance Collegiate Church while listening to stories about the town's medieval legends from your guide.

Next, discover the Roman baths while the guide explains their different parts.

Walk through the main square surrounded by monumental buildings: the palace of Najera, some convents...

Finally, continue exploring the area by visiting 2 dolmens, megalithic burial mounds known as tumuli, a form of long barrow dolmen, dating back to 3000 BC. After completing the chamber (which probably served as a tomb for the ruling families) and the path leading to the centre, the stone structure was covered by the ground and built into the hill that can be seen today. When the tomb was opened and examined in the 19th century, archaeologists found the skeletons of several hundred people inside.

At the end of this tour, we will transfer you back to your hotel on the Costa del Sol.
