Descripción General The Paint Pots snowshoe tour offers an excellent introduction to snowshoeing, blending adventure with the rich history of the fur trade and its influence on Western Canada. Along the way, you’ll hear fascinating stories about Banff’s Indigenous peoples, explorers, and fur traders who traversed the Rockies.

The tour follows an easy trail through the scenic Vermilion River Valley, leading to the Paint Pots, a cultural gem within our National Parks. The mostly flat terrain is perfect for beginners, and you may spot tracks of snowshoe hares, moose, and even wolves as you explore the area. Near the Paint Pots, you’ll be treated to a quintessential Canadian experience with hot maple taffy, adding a sweet touch to this unique winter adventure Información Adicional Please be at the meeting point 20 minutes before the departure time of the tour. You should be physically fit enough to walk up and down a few hills, and walk at a comfortable pace for 3 kilometresPlease be prepared for the mountain weather, it changes quickly and our winter tours run in anything from -27C (-17F) to +10C (+50F). Wind chill can change the temperature dramatically and you will be outside for the majority of your tourTo ensure that you enjoy the tour, please wear/bring: thermals/base layers/long johns; Snow pants are essential as we will be walking in deep snow; A warm shirt or sweater; A winter jacket, ideally waterproof; A hat and mitts; A neck warmer or scarf; Sturdy waterproof boots, ideally ones that go over the ankle as we will be walking in deep snow. Winter boots like Sorel, Baffin are great. No trainers, sneakers, vans, ugg boots, or “dressy” boots; A water bottle. Ski jackets and snow pants can be rented from stores in BanffPlease note that safety is our first priority. If the guide thinks your attire or footwear isn’t appropriate and compromises your safety on the tour, you may not be able to participateIf it goes below -27 degrees Celcius then we will not run the tour and we can reschedule your bookingTips are not expected, but are certainly appreciated.
