Experience the Grandeur of the Palace and Gardens of Versailles
The Palace and Gardens of Versailles exude an undeniable magical ambiance that transports you through time. This half-day excursion from Paris to Versailles will introduce you to the breathtaking beauty and opulence of the former French monarchy's most extravagant palace.
The Palace of Versailles boasts an impressive 700 rooms and encompasses 2,000 acres of meticulously landscaped gardens. This magnificent chateau continues to evoke the same sense of awe that it did over three centuries ago, during the reign of the Sun King, Louis XIV.
Our Versailles tour from Paris will take you on a journey through the grandeur and history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit includes the Grand Apartments, State Rooms, and the renowned Hall of Mirrors, as well as the most exceptional parts of the Gardens of Versailles.
You'll embark on this adventure in a private, air-conditioned coach that will transport you from Paris to Versailles. Skip the long lines at the palace entrance and step inside to be captivated by the stunning adornment. Throughout your visit, your guide will share captivating stories about the history and inhabitants of Versailles, including Louis XIV, XV, and XVI, as well as their queens and mistresses. Walk in the footsteps of historical figures like Marie Antoinette and others to uncover the defining moments of their lives. The palace encapsulates the 'golden age' of France, marking the country's ascent to become one of Europe's most influential powers and witnessing the dramatic events of the French Revolution.
Although the Palace of Versailles stands today as one of the highest achievements in 17th and 18th-century art and architecture, its origins were more humble. Originally built as Louis XIII's hunting lodge in the early 1600s, it transformed into an extravagant symbol of power and the official residence of the royal court from 1682 to 1789.
Depending on the option you choose, you may also explore the sumptuous gardens. These meticulously designed gardens were created by master gardener André Le Nôtre and court painter Charles Le Brun in the 1660s. They originally stretched as far as the eye could see and feature statues, secret groves, and numerous fountains designed to extend the palace's interior into nature.
The day of your visit may coincide with the Musical Fountain Show* or the Musical Gardens**, during which the fountains are synchronized to classical music or delightful tunes that accompany your exploration of the idyllic garden areas. If these events are not available on your visit day, you'll continue with a standard garden tour, with some free time to explore the gardens at your leisure.
After immersing yourself in both the palace and gardens, you'll return to Paris aboard your coach, providing you with a convenient and comprehensive experience. Discover the top attractions of Versailles with the expertise of your guide and comfortable transportation from Paris. For specific dates and details, please consult our full list of Paris tours.
Please Note:
*The Fountain Show runs from April to October on Saturdays and Sundays.
**The Musical Garden Show runs from April to October from Tuesday to Friday.
