Full description
Immerse yourself in an unforgettable day at Versailles, where the majesty of the royal past is brought to life by our guide who is passionate about the history of the Kings of France. This exceptional experience combines a guided tour of the Palace of Versailles with an exploration of the Petites and Grand Trianons, and the Queen's Hamlet. Prepare to be transported through time and space as you immerse yourself in the grandeur and beauty of this iconic place.
You will begin your day at 8:15 a.m., departing from Paris for Versailles. During the approximately 45-minute journey in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach, you will hear the first introductions from your guide about the history of Versailles and what awaits you on this unique journey.
Once at the Palace of Versailles, which covers more than 66,950 square metres and houses more than 700 rooms, you will embark on a privileged tour. With priority access, you will avoid the long queues and be guided directly to the palace's most impressive rooms. These include the King's Apartments, where seven sumptuous rooms are dedicated to different gods, and the Queen's Apartments, among which the Queen's Bedroom, where Marie Antoinette once rested, stands out. But the highlight of this section is undoubtedly the majestic Hall of Mirrors. This grand reception room, designed by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart, is a spectacular setting of marble and gilded bronzes, used both for strolling and for grandiose court events.
The guided tour will allow you to discover the sumptuous decoration, the baroque architecture of the palace, the works of art and the period furniture, all created by skilled craftsmen. Through individual headphones, you will be able to listen to the guide's commentary at all times, immersing you in the history and splendour of this historic monument.
After your visit to the Palace, you will have free time to explore the magnificent formal gardens, where you will encounter a rich variety of artwork, including over 200 statues, fountains, ponds, flowerbeds and trees. The beauty and tranquillity of the gardens will provide you with an ideal space to relax before enjoying a delicious lunch at a restaurant near the Grand Canal.
Your adventure in Versailles will continue with a visit to the Petites and Grand Trianons, as well as the Queen's Hamlet. These small châteaux were refuges from the pomp and ceremony of the main Palace. The Grand Trianon, associated with the story of Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan, will offer a different perspective on royal life, far from the ostentation.
The Petit Trianon, attributed to the Queen, and the Queen's Hamlet, Marie-Antoinette's place of escape, will immerse you in a unique atmosphere. Here, you can explore the brightly lit rooms with sometimes surprising colours and experience the simpler and more elegant life that was lived in these small palaces.
On the way to the Queen's Hamlet, you will marvel at the serene scenery and stroll along paths that take you through a truly special atmosphere. At the Hamlet, Marie Antoinette's main residence, you will have the opportunity to see several small houses that are not accessible, but which add a touch of charm to the experience.
This enriching package will allow you to explore Versailles from every angle, from the majesty of the palace to the tranquillity of the gardens and the intimacy of the Trianons and the Queen's Hamlet. Immerse yourself in the history and beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site as you step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to experience the grandeur of French royalty.
