The historic centre of the city of Granada is the meeting point of the other neighbourhoods that make up the city. Its inhabitants began to live there in the 11th century, when it became the city's Arab trading quarter and, after the Reconquest of Granada in 1492, it was the place chosen by the first Christians to settle. It is therefore a space that mixes two cultures, two histories, as it is not unusual to find historicist buildings from the 19th century next to an old refuge for traders from the Arab period, or alhóndiga.
We will continue with the Albaycín, considered one of the most charming and beautiful corners of the city, and the most historic quarter of Granada. We will show you every corner of the city, getting to know all its essence.
Strolling through its narrow streets is the best way to get to know its typical urban layout and to understand how its inhabitants lived in the Granadian "cármenes" that give the Hispano-Muslim quarter its beauty.
