A 12-hour program to visit the oldest civilization in America. We also have the option of visiting a protected natural area: Lomas de Lachay where you will enjoy a spectacular picnic.
We start at 6am from Lima, stopping at km 77.5 (around 7am) at DelPino Restaurant for a coffee and to try chicharrones and other Peruvian breakfast classics. We drive 2 more hours until we reach Caral, where we will arrive around 10am to visit the oldest city in America, contemporary with ancient Mesopotamia and the pyramids of Egypt. At 11.30am we leave for Huaura (an hour away in our transport) and visit the famous balcony where the independence of Peru from the Viceroyalty of Spain was declared for the first time by the liberator San Martin. We visited this nice house and museum. Then we go to the Lomas de Lachay, a protected area of 12,500 acres (5,070 hectares) distinguished by its humid ecosystem with varieties of plants and animals. A short walk of 30 minutes and then the picnic. Around 3pm, we will start our way back to Lima, where we will be arriving around 6-7pm.
