Full description
Immerse yourself in London's highlights in a single day, from historic Westminster to majestic Windsor Castle, capturing scenic wonders such as Whitehall, Westminster Bridge, Big Ben and the London Eye, while enjoying numerous photo opportunities along the way. Discover the deep links between Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle. Our expert guide will take you to see the exterior of the Abbey, and you'll also travel to Windsor Castle to explore the royal estate with our multilingual audio guide.
Experience exclusive pre-arranged access to Windsor Castle, immersing yourself in centuries of history within its grand walls. Leave all the planning to us and enjoy a hassle-free travel experience, including return train arrangements arranged for a stress-free day of exploration.
The tour begins at the grandeur of Westminster Abbey. View this architectural marvel from the outside, steeped in centuries of royal ceremonies and historic events. As you step onto the streets, Whitehall unfolds before you, lined with government offices and witnessing the ebb and flow of British political history. Your guide will unravel tales of power, intrigue and resilience as you traverse this venerable thoroughfare.
Crossing Westminster Bridge, a panoramic view of the River Thames opens up before you, accompanied by the silhouette of the iconic London Eye against the sky. The bridge itself is a work of art, offering unobstructed views of Parliament, Big Ben and the striking architecture that defines the London skyline.
Next on the itinerary is the bustling Waterloo Station, a train station with a storied past, and we head towards the charming town of Windsor. Arriving in Windsor, you'll feel relaxed and refreshed, eager to explore this authentic English town with your enthusiastic guide. Explore cobbled streets lined with black-and-white Tudor buildings and peer through traditional blown-glass windows as your guide offers fascinating insights into life alongside the British Royal Family. They are not the only beloved English figures who have an association with this picturesque town; Shakespeare walked these same streets and used them as the setting for his play The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Having heard and experienced the historic past of this famous town, let our guide take you to the magnificent highlight of your tour: Windsor Castle. On your self-guided tour, admire the ornate State Apartments, where visiting dignitaries are received amidst works of art by Rembrandt and Rubens. See the intricate Gothic architecture of St George's Chapel, the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II. At the end of your visit, you'll be free to revisit places of interest or explore further before returning to London at your own pace using your flexible train tickets.
This tour combines iconic monuments, rich history and breathtaking views, offering a unique and complete experience of the royalty and splendour of London and Windsor.
