Alcazar Viejo: It is a neighbourhood with a lot of history and its origin comes from the Caliphal Alcazar. Its name derives from the comparison with the “new” Alcazar of the Christian Monarchs, during Ferdinand III’s reign. It was the quarter where Jewish and Muslim people lived between the thirteenth and the fifteenth centuries. Nowadays, it is well-known as San Basilio neighbourhood, which hosts the famous Cordovan Courtyards Contest.
Patios de Cordoba: In 2012 they were declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Having Roman origins, they allow us to imagine the lifestyle of people 1000 years ago. They are plenty of flowers, fountains and antiques, always brimmed with light and colour. Since 1921, a Courtyards Contest is held for the first two weeks of May.
