Full description On this journey you will visit the Nemocón Salt Mine with us, we will pick you up at your hotel or place of accommodation and we will leave for the municipality of Nemocón, the journey can last approximately 60 to 90 minutes.

During this journey you will have the opportunity to observe different places such as the northern highway in the city of Bogotá, you will pass through the Marroquín Castle and the town of Chía.

Descend into an underground wonderland where salt is produced 196 feet (60 m) below the earth's surface. A private guide will accompany you to the Nemocón Salt Mines during a half-day educational tour to discover the history of the mines and their impressive mirrors of brine.

After arriving at Nemocón, we will make our way inside the mines with a private guide who will be eager to share the history of the extraction process. Inside the mine, glimpses of otherworldly stalactites and stalagmites are complemented by colorful atmospheric lighting. Be amazed as you head to a region where brine deposits have created a natural network of reflective mirrors.

In the chamber of the Chapel there is a huge stone sphere of 1,300 kilos that symbolizes the world. Another attraction of great importance is the 1,600 kilo salt crystal, carved in the shape of a heart in the 60's by the miner Miguel Sánchez. On the tour you can see the stalactites and stalagmites and there is even an ecological trail, an auditorium and a geology room.

You will learn the curiosities about the Nemocón salt mines and you will discover that the salt extraction industry dates back to 400 BC in this region of the world. You will see the filming location of the movie “Los 33”, which details the 2010 collapse of a copper and gold mine in Chile, starring Antonio Banderas.

After leaving the Nemocón Salt Mine we are going to go to Zipaquirá, you will enjoy a typical Colombian lunch in one of the best restaurants in Zipaquirá, you can make your choice between different traditionally prepared on the fire, you can choose a dish with delicious meat prepared the llanera or a vegetarian dish.

180 meters underground is a place far from everyday life, which invites reflection, self-discovery and internal encounter. With an architecture carved completely in salt and with different recreational activities that will make you live a unique experience, the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá.

We will accompany you to the entrance of the salt mine where the visit to the Cathedral begins. The tour is done through an audio guide that has 7 different languages to choose from: Spanish, English, Italian, German, French, Portuguese and Mandarin.

The tour inside the Salt Cathedral lasts around two hours and you will have the opportunity to visit:
Nucuma Short Film: Short film that lasts approx. 15 min, in which you can see a summary of the geological formation of the salt deposit, the levels of exploitation and the entire structure of the mine.
Light show: It is the largest LED bulb screen in the world underground, where you will hear and see the mythological history of our Muisca Indians.
Water Mirror: Generates an optical illusion by the salt crystals found in the water.
Salt Footprints Walk: A tour of the historic center is carried out, with a guide and the most emblematic places of Zipaquirá are visualized, within this tour the Quevedo Zornoza Museum is visited, where they will have knowledge about the cultural development of Zipaquirá, ancestral information ( indigenous people who inhabited), history of Zipaquirá, the generations that lived there, and finally the life of Guillermo Quevedo Sornoza who was a teacher and influenced the life of Gabriel García Márquez when he studied at the Salle de Zipaquirá.
