Departing from your accommodation in Santiago, we set off on a fascinating day exploring Ourense, the capital of the only Galician province that has no sea coast, but which in Roman times was an important gateway.
Among the highlights of this city, we marvel at the Roman Bridge, a silent witness of history that connects the two banks of the river Minho, and the majestic Cathedral with its imposing Portico of Paradise, reminiscent of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. An unmissable visit is to Las Burgas, unique thermal springs that have been a place of relaxation and health since time immemorial.
Our journey then takes us to the high plateau, known as the Ribeira Sacra. Here, the gently sloping mountains give way to the imposing Sil Canyon, where we stop at the top to admire the natural beauty of this enclave. Numerous natural viewpoints offer breathtaking views over the river Sil, creating a landscape of breathtaking beauty.
During our journey, we visit emblematic places that transport us to past times, such as the Monastery of San Esteban de Ribas de Sil and the Monastery of San Pedro de Rocas, where history and spirituality intertwine in an environment of peace and serenity.
At the end of our excursion, we return to Santiago de Compostela, taking with us the memories of a day full of discoveries and beauty in Galicia.
