The tour begins with a short stop in Bruges before heading to a German Cemetery, a solemn place of remembrance for the fallen soldiers. From there, we explore a preserved section of WWI trenches, where history comes alive.
Next, we visit the Monument of the Brooding Soldier, a tribute to the Canadian troops who bravely withstood the first gas attack. Nearby, Hill 60 showcases the strategic underground tunnels dug by the Royal Engineers beneath German positions.
Our journey continues at the Flanders Fields Museum, where interactive exhibits and personal accounts narrate four years of trench warfare. We then proceed to the Passchendaele battlefield and Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth war cemetery, where British, Australian, Canadian, and Irish soldiers rest in peace.
At Essex Farm, we learn about Dr. John McCrae, who penned the iconic poem "In Flanders Fields" after witnessing the loss of a comrade. Later, we arrive in the beautiful city of Ypres for a short break before attending the deeply moving Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate, a nightly tribute to the missing Commonwealth soldiers.
