Vigo is a very unique city. It is located in its own estuary that is part of the Rías Baixas. It is the most populous municipality in Galicia and fourteenth in Spain! Amazing! Without a doubt, it has one of the most spectacular landscapes with the Cíes Islands in the background.
Making the private visit, the tour adapts to your tastes and/or interests as well as at your own pace. If what you want is an overview, we have a pre-established route that brings together the main aspects of the Olívica City, both culturally, historically and in curious details. We are official guides of Galicia and we know our Land well.
The visit begins from the very heart of the city, the Plaza de la Puerta del Sol, where we will take the opportunity to explain the history and evolution from a small Celtic settlement to become the largest city in all of Galicia thanks to the Atlantic Ocean that bathes its shores. The Mermaid sculpture, which we will talk about in this first stop, explains this perfectly.
From here we will go up a bit to the fortress of San Sebastián, one of the symbols of the city and from where we will be able to observe spectacular views of the Vigo estuary. From here, we will begin to descend, making stops at the Olivo de Vigo and we will go into the cobbled streets of the Old Zone of Vigo. We will see the best-known squares in the city and we will explain the meaning and reason for each one of them, as well as telling you many curiosities about the history of Vigo.
Our visit will end on the banks of the estuary itself, walking along the promenade that will take us to our final point with one of the most famous writers of humanity. Do you already know who he is?
