The city of Durres, located on the Adriatic coast, is an important commercial port in Albania and the second largest city in the country. It is also one of the oldest cities in Albania, being formerly known as Durrahium. According to legend, it was founded by Epidamnos, the Illyrian king of the area, who named it after himself and named the port area after his grandson, Dyrrah. Durres was for centuries the largest port on the Adriatic and the starting point of the Via Egnatia to Constantinople/Istanbul.
On our tour, we will visit the Roman Amphitheatre and the Archaeological Museum, located near the sea and rich in artefacts excavated in Durres. We will also have the opportunity to visit the Roman Baths, located behind the Aleksander Moisiu Theatre in the central square. In addition, we will see the Palace of the former King Zog.

Finally, the Palace of the former King Zog is a historical site that visitors can see during their stay in Durres. The Palace was built in the 20th century and is an excellent example of Albanian architecture of the time. Inside you can see personal belongings of the king and his family, as well as period furniture and decorations.
