Full description
Our Semi-Private guided tour offers an intimate and exclusive experience for those seeking a more personalized visit to the Vatican. With a maximum of 10 people per tour group, our expert English-speaking guide will tailor the experience to your unique interests.
No One Gets You in Safer
Discover the highlights of the world-renowned Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica, all in one intimate, fully guided tour. After entering through the Pinecone Courtyard, this tour for up to 10 passengers begins at the Vatican Museums, where you'll skip the line and head straight inside. We take you through an exclusive Reserved Entrance to explore this incredible collection at a leisurely pace on our Semi-Private Vatican Tours.
No One Gives You More Access
Explore the multitude of paintings, sculptures, and tapestries that the Museums have to offer. While there are over 2,000 rooms throughout the Vatican, your expert English-speaking guide will lead your intimate group along a carefully planned route that showcases the best of what there is to see. You'll enter the Pinecone Courtyard, where you'll get a glimpse of the treasures that lie ahead. Amidst ancient Egyptian statues and abstract modern sculptures, your guide will provide your small group with an overview of what to look for in the Sistine Chapel, as there is no commentary allowed inside. This will give you time to prepare for the fascinating details that will be on display when you enter and bask in the brilliance of Da Vinci's renowned ceiling frescoes. Before you reach the Chapel, you'll have ample time to explore other remarkable sites such as the Gallery of Tapestries, Hall of Maps, and the Gallery of Candelabra. Throughout these sections, your guide will be with your group, pointing out the many intriguing details, including optical illusions and small paintings of Christopher Columbus. Your guide will also accompany you in the Sistine Chapel, where respectful silence is observed, allowing people time to reflect on the captivating details, such as Michelangelo's portrayal of his contemporaries and his hidden self-portraits.
No One Gets You in Faster
Leaving the Sistine Chapel, you can once again take advantage of our Skip-the-Line Access, bypassing long lines of spectators to provide an overview of this spectacular church. Your guide will lead you directly into St. Peter's Basilica, whose dome appears even more impressive as you stand beneath it. Inside, you'll have time to admire Michelangelo's 'Pieta,' the only one of his sculptures to be signed by him. At the end of the tour, you can remain in St. Peter's Basilica at your leisure for as much time as you like, to soak in the spiritual atmosphere among the tall columns. When you're ready, you'll exit the Basilica to gaze at the impressive St. Peter's Square, where the Pope addresses the crowds who gather to listen to him and admire Bernini's clever optical illusion and the heavenly facade of the basilica.
In just 3 hours, we'll showcase the highlights of the Vatican Museums and its remarkable buildings on this intimate tour. You'll stroll through the vast basilica where St. Peter and the popes are buried and witness the religious stories coming to life in the Sistine Chapel. Most importantly, you'll see how the Popes spread the word of the gospels through the use of the highest imaginable art.
Additional information
The service ends at St. Peter’s Basilica
Saint Peter’s Basilica is subject to last-minute closures for religious ceremonies. When this occurs, we're happy to offer customers an extended tour of the Vatican Museums. While we endeavour to tell tour groups ahead of time if there are any planned disruptions to the Basilica's opening hours, this is not always possible and in these cases we are unable to provide refunds or discounts
Extra measures may be implemented at some venues due to heightened global security. As a result, we may experience delays in getting through mandatory security checks when entering these venues. Extra measures may also restrict the size of bags that can be brought inside. To avoid disruptions or possible denied entry, we strongly suggest that you avoid bringing large purses, bags, or backpacks on your tour. The Vatican only permits very small bags, and specifically prohibits large bags, tripods, umbrellas, and backpacks. Any such items must be checked into the free luggage storage area which may result in your having to leave the tour early to retrieve them at the entrance
Please note that in case of unexpected closures of some of the areas inside the Museums, the guide may have to modify the itinerary slightly. For example, if some of the internal connecting areas are closed for safety reasons, Raphael's Rooms may be replaced with Pio Clementino Museum, where Laoocon and Apollo Belvedere statues are
It is the responsibility of all visitors to be at the meeting point 15 minutes before departure. Guests arriving after departure cannot be accommodated & missed tours or tickets cannot be refunded
Our coordinators will be wearing blue polo shirts or jackets to be easily recognizable at the meeting point
This tour involves a fair amount of walking, stairs and hills; comfortable shoes are recommended
We regret that we are unable to accommodate guests with wheelchairs or any impairments requiring special assistance. We are also unable to accommodate strollers or baby carriages on our group tours
Entrance into the Vatican requires a strict dress code. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. We cannot be held responsible for refused entry due to improper dress
Non-flash photography is permitted throughout the tour, except in the Sistine Chapel where talking and photography are prohibited
The Vatican Museums are one of the most popular tourist destinations and sometimes delays can occur due to increased security measures or unexpectedly large crowds during holidays and festivities. As always, your guide will make sure any delays are minimized and that you get access as quickly as possible
Please note that from Monday 27th of May until the end of November the Michelangelo's Pieta' in Saint Peter Basilica will not be visible due to renewal works of the opera protective glass
