The city of Jeddah is a captivating blend of history and modernity, where the legacy of the past harmonizes with the dynamism of a rapidly growing metropolis. This unique experience takes us through Al-Balad, the historical heart of the city, uncovering lesser-known hidden gems that make this tour an unforgettable journey.
The tour begins with a panoramic drive along Jeddah’s Corniche, a breathtaking 30-kilometer coastal strip along the Red Sea. This scenic area not only offers stunning seafront views but also features expansive recreational spaces, large-scale urban sculptures, and the iconic King Fahd’s Fountain, known as the tallest fountain in the world. The fresh sea breeze and modern atmosphere of the Corniche contrast with the traditional ambiance of our next stop: the Tayyebat Museum. Located in the Al Faisaliyah district, this cultural gem takes us through 2,500 years of Jeddah’s history. Housed in a complex inspired by traditional Hijazi architecture, the museum offers a superbly curated representation of the city's cosmopolitan past, from its origins as a bustling trading port to its transformation into one of Saudi Arabia’s most vibrant cities.
Next, we move on to Al-Balad, the old town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic district, with its narrow alleyways and coral-stone houses with intricate wooden balconies, is the soul of traditional Jeddah. Our driver will drop us off at Al-Balad, allowing us to explore this iconic neighborhood on foot, discovering its hidden corners and experiencing the city through the eyes of locals. Among the highlights are traditional markets, small art galleries housed in restored historic buildings, and local eateries where authentic Jeddah delicacies can be savored. The walk also includes visits to renowned landmarks such as Beit Nassif, a historical mansion that has stood witness to centuries of commerce and culture, and the Baghdadi House, another stunning example of Hijazi architecture. Further along, we explore Gabel Street’s old gold market and visit the historic Ukash Mosque, both integral to the city's storied past.
After an hour of exploration, we will reunite with our driver for the return trip, taking with us a deeper appreciation of Jeddah’s rich history, artistic heritage, and vibrant daily life.
