Full description
Discover Lisbon, a charming city with typical neighbourhoods, emblematic monuments and a unique heritage. Known for its seven hills, viewpoints and for being the birthplace of Fado, Lisbon will captivate you with its rich history and culture. On this half-day tour, you will have the opportunity to discover Lisbon's historic centre and the Belém area, two of the city's highlights.
Our tour starts at the iconic Belém Tower, located on the banks of the Tagus River. This impressive bastion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built in the 16th century to protect the entrance to the port of Lisbon. The Belém Tower, with its Manueline architecture and panoramic views of the river, is a symbol of the Age of Discoveries and a must-see in Lisbon. The tower is not only an architectural gem, but also offers a fascinating insight into Portugal's maritime history.
Very close to the Belém Tower is the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, a monumental monument that pays homage to the Portuguese navigators and explorers who played a crucial role in the Age of Discoveries. This imposing structure, in the shape of a caravel, is adorned with statues of important historical figures, including Henry the Navigator. From the top of the monument, you will enjoy a spectacular view of Belém and the Tagus River, an experience that will connect you with Portugal's glorious past.
Next, we head to the impressive Jerónimos Monastery, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This magnificent monastery is an outstanding example of the Manueline style, a unique architecture that combines Gothic and Renaissance elements with maritime motifs. Built in the 16th century, the Hieronymites Monastery is a symbol of the Age of Discoveries and a tribute to Portuguese navigators. Strolling through its cloisters and admiring its detailed ornamentation is an experience not to be missed. The monastery church, with its impressive vaulting and beautiful stained glass windows, is equally fascinating and offers an atmosphere of serenity and reverence.
Finally, we will visit the majestic Ajuda National Palace, a former royal palace and national monument. This majestic palace, the largest royal residence in Portugal, is also known as a Museum of Decorative Art due to the impressive collection of pieces housed inside. During your visit, you can explore its sumptuous halls, admire the architectural details and learn more about the life of Portuguese royalty. Each room of the palace is richly decorated, offering a glimpse into the luxury and opulence of the Portuguese monarchy.
To complete your Lisbon experience, we offer you the opportunity to freely explore the old and typical neighbourhoods of Alfama or Bairro Alto with our new digital walking tour. Alfama, with its narrow, winding streets, is the oldest neighbourhood in Lisbon and the birthplace of Fado, the melancholic music that is the soul of Portugal. In Bairro Alto, a bohemian and lively neighbourhood, you can lose yourself among its bars and shops, and discover why this place is the heart of Lisbon's nightlife.
With our digital tour, you can explore these neighbourhoods at your own pace, discovering the hidden corners and narrow streets where Fado began to be sung. This tour will allow you to immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of Lisbon and get up close and personal with its rich culture and tradition.
This half-day tour is the perfect way to discover Lisbon's main attractions, from its historical monuments to its most traditional neighbourhoods. Accompanied by an expert guide, you will learn about the history and culture of the city, and enjoy an unforgettable experience in the Portuguese capital. Don't miss the opportunity to explore Lisbon and discover why this city is one of the most charming destinations in Europe. Book your place today and get ready for a day full of discoveries and wonders in Lisbon.
