The ritual of the queimada is of unknown origin, some say that it began to be popular in Galicia in the times of the Celts, others attribute it to the Middle Ages. What is clear is that this alcoholic beverage has traditionally been used to break curses and ward off evil spirits.
With this unique experience you will experience the magic and Galician culture. We can meet in the Plaza de la Quintana de Vivos to go to the place where the ceremony will begin.
We will gather around a table with a large clay container in the center. At that moment, the help of a Galician meiga will come into action, the name by which bujas are known in this region, who will explain how to make the queimada.
Water, earth and fire, the three most important elements of nature, will be present in the preparation of this drink. The meiga will recite the spell, traditionally known as conxuro da queimada, with which you will summon good luck just before tasting the drink.
After the ritual we will go on to a tasting of the freshly prepared queimada drink.
